Great to see Gov.-elect Haley ( who will take the oath of office on Jan 12th) off to such a super start. Her initial selection of David Wilkins to head her transistion team, as well as the others she recruited to help with that effort have been impressive. And, with the announcement of her staff this week, things look even better. The staff is a collection of solid talent that will serve Haley well with their impressive state and national political experience at a variety of positions. Not that there aren’t things to work on – obviously the jury is still out on her ability to work with the Legislature, but all signs point to a realization that they need each other. And, it is no secret that those in the media are a little less than pleased with their current interaction, or lack thereof, with Haley and her people. But it is early, and so far, so good. Nice to see.

She’s off to an OK start, but she has a bad habit of saying things in press conferences that will end up biting her in the ass in a court room…
Chip: governing is different than running a campaign. With an average age of 35, this crowd doesn’t know what they don’t know. I’ll give them credit for passion and energy but except for Trey, they are short, scarily short of public administrative experience. They aren’t all white guys either, that’s a plus.
I didn’t expect much, since Trikki Nikki has never, ever “run” any thing not even her daughter’s Girl Scout Troop. (NB: Girl Scouts provide excellent training to their troop leaders by the way.)
Anxiously awaiting a grown-up to appear. Glad to know we will have a Gubernatorial Concierge, though.
Lynn – Believe me, I know governing is a harder process but you can’t govern if you don’t have people around you with some political acumen, who you trust. She could have done a helluva lot worse than this group of folks and I can name 5 or 6 names I am really glad aren’t there.
I can name 5 or 6 names I wish were there because they have great skill at the levers of government, making those trains run (relatively) on time. I’m not opposed to having folks on board with political acumen , every Governor needs a trusted staff. I just think having gov’t mileage isn’t a bad thing. I’m thinking of folks like Fred Carter and Bob McAlister.
