This past weekend’s tragic incident in Arizona should scare us all. On Saturday, a public event held by a Member of Congress, looked more like a street in Pakistan or Afghanistan. Cleary, the perpetrator of this heinous attack is someone who has serious mental issues, but one can’t help but wonder if the level of incivility, vitriol and just outright anger in today’s public discussion over issues simply fueled an already volatile mind. What the hell has happened to us? Is this the path this country has chosen to follow? God help us all ,if it is. People in position to influence the public dialogue on issues, who choose to stoke the seeds of hatred, of anger and yes, then violence should be ashamed of themselves, if not held personally accountable. This is not the country so many have fought and died to preserve. And today, the lives of innocent people, a nine year old child no less, have been lost, because of the environment we now face. It is a sad, sad day.

Cousin, I don’t agree with your politics but I certainly agree with the call for civility. Keep up the good work! Happy New Year, ya’ll!
We probably agree on more than we disagree on…:)
